Window Blinds and Shades Child Safety

The European Standard (EN13120:2009) pertaining to safety for internal blinds has recently been amended to EN13120:2009+A1:2014 and now requires that new window blinds must be “safe by design” or supplied with the appropriate child safety devices to stop them posing a risk to the lives of babies and young children. Chains and cords of window blinds and shades can often pose a risk to toddlers and small children who could injure or even strangle themselves on the looped operating chains and cords.

At English Blinds we have been supplying all of our blinds with child safe features as standard or as a free option for many years. We are passionate about spreading the word to as many parents as possible about child safety and ensuring that looped blind cords of existing window blinds are made safe and kept out of the reach of children.

This infographic shows some of the child safety options available for the different types of blinds as well as some useful tips for keeping your children safe.
