Venetian blinds are not the most obvious go-to kitchen blinds because their lift cords aren\u2019t waterproof, and also because their narrow slats can make them somewhat fiddly to clean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, if your kitchen doesn\u2019t get very steamed up when in use and the blinds are unlikely to get splashed with either water or food, they might be viable, if the look and function of Venetian blinds is particularly in line with what you want to achieve and you have a strong preference for them over other types of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.englishblinds.co.uk\/kitchen-blinds\">kitchen blinds<\/a> that are fully waterproof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This blog post will cover the various different factors you need to think about if you\u2019re trying to decide if Venetian blinds are good kitchen blinds, and whether or not they\u2019ll work for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-are-venetian-blinds-good-for\">What are Venetian blinds good for?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Kitchens and bathrooms are generally <a href=\"https:\/\/www.englishblinds.co.uk\/blog\/ask-an-expert\/do-kitchen-blinds-need-to-be-waterproof\/\">best served by blinds that are fully waterproof,<\/a> for obvious reasons. However, the slats of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.englishblinds.co.uk\/venetian-blinds\">Venetian blinds<\/a> themselves are waterproof, made of aluminium coated in hardwearing stove enamel paint; with only the lift cords being water permeable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This being the case, Venetian blinds are perfectly fine for many kitchens, being those that don\u2019t tend to get overly humid with either water vapour or vapourised cooking fats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Venetian blinds are comprised of narrow slats, which can make them fiddly to clean (and particularly challenging if, say, you\u2019re trying to wipe a film of cooking fat off the slats without wetting and transferring it to the ladder tapes) but this does also mean that they can be tilted and angled to control the light and allow you to enjoy the view whilst also preserving your privacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-are-venetian-blinds-good-for-kitchens-with-windows-near-the-sink-or-counters\">Are Venetian blinds good for kitchens with windows near the sink or counters?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If your window and so, blind is directly behind the sink or a work surface where cooking sauces and food are likely to splash, you might want to rule out venetian blinds. If the lift cords get saturated or become wet regularly, they\u2019ll attract grime that is hard to remove.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, cooking fat and food splashes can stain the lift cords too, and whilst this is only a small part of the blind that you can often barely see, this can ruin the appearance of your blind and potentially cause the cords to wear out over time too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-are-venetian-blinds-good-for-kitchens-that-get-heavily-steamed-up\">Are Venetian blinds good for kitchens that get heavily steamed up?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I would suggest not, because again, if your kitchen gets very humid when in use (or even if the kitchen as a whole is fine, but the blind will be close to a regularly-used kettle or a hob where you boil water or simmer sauces) then the lift cords of a Venetian blind will get soaked and begin to suffer for this, as well as attracting dirt and grime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-are-venetian-blinds-good-for-kitchens-that-are-well-ventilated\">Are Venetian blinds good for kitchens that are well ventilated?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, they should be fine. If your kitchen is well ventilated and doesn\u2019t tend to become overly condensated or humid with either water vapour or cooking fat and your sink and counters aren\u2019t within splashing distance of the blind, Venetian blinds are an option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-are-venetian-blinds-good-for-kitchens-that-tend-to-get-quite-dirty\">Are Venetian blinds good for kitchens that tend to get quite dirty?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Not really, or at least, not unless you really enjoy cleaning! Venetian blind slats are narrow and also form horizontal surfaces that grime and cooking splashes can stick to, which makes them somewhat fiddly to clean. You also can\u2019t really bash or scrub at them without risking denting or damaging the slats; and ideally, you should avoid allowing the lift cords to get wet as this part of a Venetian blind is not itself waterproof.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This depends on the kitchen.
