Welcome to the English Blinds blog, and thanks for making the fairly brave commitment to potentially lose five minutes of your life to abject boredom. That\u2019s the thing about blinds of course; if you are considering redecorating your home or are otherwise in the market for new blinds, they\u2019re the most important, interesting, and potentially complicated thing in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rest of the time though? Blinds. Yeah. Keep the light out, provide a bit of insulation, stop the neighbours from seeing your wobbly bits when you get changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What I\u2019m saying is, blinds are useful, often beautiful, and have a reasonable level of scope for innovation. It is absolutely possible to get a bit geeky about blinds as part of your broader home d\u00e9cor, but in and of themselves they\u2019re not generally the sort of topic that the average Joe considers to be an obvious port of call to get their kicks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That said, keeping a list of blogs about blinds could be fairly handy to refer back to on nights you\u2019re having problems sleeping, so don\u2019t write them off entirely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, despite (or perhaps even because of) the fact that window blind blogs tend to be fairly dry and uninspiring and are unlikely to be near to the top of anyone\u2019s essential reading list, I have decided to breathe new life into the English Blinds blog and come at it afresh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My goal with the English blinds blog is to share useful insights, information, and guidance on all things blinds, from choosing them to fitting them to ensuring they\u2019re safe and beyond. But what the English Blinds blog is not intended to do is to actually convince you to buy our blinds.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Huh?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I mean, obviously we like making money as much as the next person, but English Blinds has the whole rest of the website for that already, which you know, feel free to go and buy stuff; that would be totally fine. But this blog specifically is designed to inform, advise, and where possible, entertain; not to push you towards certain purchasing choices or tell you why English Blinds is clearly a far superior choice for blocking out your current view of the bins than Someone-Else-Blinds of Randomsville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is why the English Blinds Blog will also feature a broad range of topic areas relating to interior design, style trends, all things home d\u00e9cor, and broader general interest; much of which won\u2019t even mention or relate to blinds at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I want the English Blinds blog to become a valuable resource for impartial information, useful guidance, and particularly, child safety advice for blinds, this latter of which is of particular importance to our company (and buyers) as a whole, but without making any of this dry or dull.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Basically, I want the blog to be a fun, funky, somewhat irreverent homes and interiors blog that also offers sound advice and information about blinds too; but that holds value and entertains in and of itself, even if you are **shocked** not actually interested in buying blinds at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, what sort of content can you expect to find on the English Blinds blog? Here are the main topic areas I\u2019ll be covering:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All things interiors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Anything relating to interior design, d\u00e9cor, homewares, fabrics and furniture, the latest trends, the most eye-rolly trends, design inspiration and so on are going to be at the top of my agenda. However, I\u2019m going to be taking a fairly irreverent and light-hearted approach to this, and advise you to do the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How-to and instructional content<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

How-to guides and instructional content about blinds that is written in plain English and able to be followed and understood by absolutely anyone, regardless of their background or DIY prowess is something I\u2019m keen to share too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I want this to be highly accessible and also, fun and easy to follow; the type of content that makes you enthusiastic and confident about having a go, not feeling daunted because you\u2019ve had to dig out a dictionary to get to grips with the techspeak!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blinds-Geek Central: everything you didn\u2019t know you needed to know about window blinds<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Specific and in-depth information on different individual type of blinds<\/a>; such as their pros and cons, the best blinds<\/a> for different applications, how to clean window blinds, and how specific types of blinds should be fitted and installed; everything you never knew you needed to know about blinds until you did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keeping children safe around blinds (and keeping blinds safe from your kids)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of my main goals is to build up a really comprehensive library of accurate, honest, and impartial information on blinds and child safety, covering absolutely everything from how to make blinds safer for children to the right choice of blinds for a child\u2019s room, and much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also intend to go over things like how to protect your blinds from your kids as well as the other way around, and the additional factors you need to think about as your children get a little older and more adventurous, by which I mean \u201ctaller, more mobile, and somewhat harder to keep out of the meat mincer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reader-led content\/ask an expert<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A.K.A., \u201cPlease help me, I\u2019m running out of ideas\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What you as the English Blinds blog readers want to know is something else I am keen to find out too, so I\u2019m freely inviting comments and input from the peanut gallery on the type of posts you\u2019d like to see here and particularly, any questions you want answered or information you\u2019ve not been able to find elsewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019re not just window blind retailers but also designers and manufacturers, and our whole operation takes place in-house here in Solihull, just south of Birmingham<\/a>. This means that I can quite literally pop downstairs to bother the appropriate professional and get the answers to your questions or find out more detail for you about how a thing should be done and why, which has the added benefit of taking me past the snack machines too, so really, don\u2019t be shy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lifestyle and general interest<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Finally, if a thing is seasonal, topical, trending, or simply funny for its own sake and has some kind of interiors\/d\u00e9cor\/homewares tie-in or relevance, even loosely, I am going to be all over that as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
